How to Install Dungeondraft Asset Packs

Installing Dungeondraft asset packs takes about a minute! All packs use the same process regardless of where you downloaded them from.

What you need

  • Dungeondraft installed & open at least once (so it's created its user data folder)
  • Your asset pack as a .dungeondraft_pack file (if you don't have one, try grabbing the DnDungeon Overhaul!)

If your download came as a .zip, extract it first. The .dungeondraft_pack file will be inside.

Step 1: Find your Dungeondraft assets folder

Dungeondraft stores assets in a user data folder that you can check or change at any time. In Dungeondraft, in the top bar, click on Assets to see where it's pointed.

In the dialog that opens up, the top bar will tell you the current asset folder filepath. You can click Browse to change it; you can also copy the path to navigate to it in your file browser.

Step 2: Drop in the pack file

Copy your .dungeondraft_pack file into the assets folder. That's it for the file side!

Step 3: Restart Dungeondraft

Close & reopen Dungeondraft. The pack will appear automatically in the asset browser. No additional setup required; you can mark it as complete.

Avoiding the demo conflict

If you've installed the DnDungeon Overhaul demo (click here to download it for free) & are now installing the full pack, remove the demo file first!

This is because the demo & full Overhaul pack share the same pack ID. This allows maps built with the demo to carry over seamlessly to the full pack, since all the core asset IDs to carry over. Having both in the assets folder at the same time causes a conflict where one or both packs may fail to load correctly. Delete the demo .dungeondraft_pack file from your assets folder before dropping in the full pack, then restart Dungeondraft.

Managing multiple packs

Dungeondraft handles multiple packs well. All enabled packs load simultaneously & assets from each are available in the same editor session. The tag system keeps things organized; you can use the search bar or filter by tag to narrow down assets across all loaded packs.

If you ever want to disable a pack temporarily, just uncheck it in the Assets browser.

Troubleshooting

The pack doesn't appear after restarting.
Double-check that the .dungeondraft_pack file is directly inside the assets folder, not inside a subfolder. Dungeondraft doesn't look in nested directories.

You have both the demo & full Overhaul pack installed.
See the demo conflict section above. Remove one & restart.
